It was the first time that I registered with DA to do the Eve Online contest. I am quite disappointed by the judges and the 15 finalists as most people in this forum and the Eve Online forum. Don’t get me wrong, some of the chosen ones are great, but there are so many more that deserve to be in the top 15.
People are mentioning about rules. Rules are made to be broken, right? I browse all the other entries and most of them (the best ones) somehow broke the rules. Technically, we added more to the submission.
Anyway, I think the 2 main rules to respect are: (1)the most important parts are the 6 views as the colored render is optional and (2)the design should fit with one of the EVE Online races.

The six views are to provide accurate representation of details, measurements, and shapes. The six views should be clean, uncolored line drawings / illustrations / schematics of the exterior hull of the starship. I believe this contest is not about who can have the best render but who can give them what they need to build a starship, which is the detailed schematic line drawing. People at CCP have their own textures and set of colors for each race already. So that was my strategy, if I give them the best line drawing with details in real and accurate dimensions, I will have more chance to get a prize.
I think that the DA staff should select the entries based on the 6 views first before comparing the colored renders (optional), which should be used only if they cannot decide between 2 entries that have great 6 views.
I hoped that I could win one of the first 3 prizes when I entered the contest. But my starship was not even in the 15 finalists. That was very confusing and disappointing.

@ Spinner - Vision: Sorry if your mind will blow up....yes, it's all Sketchup. The renders were done with Vray for Sketchup.
@ artysmedia: Are you the same Roberto from Sketchucation forum? Nice to see you here.
Someone mentioned about the name Typhon. I did not realize that there was another ship in the game named Typhoon. Very close. Oh well, CCP can always change the name to what they like if I do win one of the prizes.
